Followcity runs a small online town at followcity.live. We keep as little data as we can. This page says what we keep and why.
What we keep
- Your public handle and the platform you follow us on (Instagram, TikTok or Facebook), and the date you moved in. We use this to build your house in the town. It is public, because the town is public.
- Optionally, a first name if you give us one.
- Moving in. When you ask to move in through the form on the site, we store the handle and platform you type, the job you pick (if any) and the time. Most requests move in straight away; a few wait for the mayor to check, and a declined request is deleted.
- Instagram messages. If you comment HOME under one of our Instagram posts or message us HOME, our app reads that comment or message, your Instagram username and whether you follow @followcity.live, so it can reply and build your house. We keep a short note that we replied, so we do not message you twice. We do not read other messages for this, and we do not keep your messages.
- On your own device, the site remembers the handle you sent, so it can show that your request is on the list. It stays in your browser and you can clear it at any time.
We do not collect passwords, email addresses, phone numbers or payment details from visitors.
Our connection to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook
Our app signs in to our own Followcity accounts only, to publish clips and pictures of the town and to read basic statistics for our own posts. The access tokens are stored as encrypted settings on our hosting provider and are never shared. We do not sign in to visitors' accounts and do not read their data.
Visiting the site
The site is hosted by Vercel, which may log technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The only cookies are short-lived ones that keep a sign-in to our own social accounts safe, used by the mayor only.
Removing your house
Message us on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook (@followcity.live) and we will remove your handle from the town, usually within a few days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top.
